Srinagar, Sep 18 (KNO): As part of the ongoing nationwide campaign ‘Swasth Nari Sashakt Pariwar Abhiyan’ being observed from September 17 to October 2, the J&K Fire & Emergency Services on Thursday organized a free medical camp, drug de-addiction awareness programme and blood donation camp at its headquarters in Batamaloo, Srinagar. The initiative was held under the leadership of Director Fire & Emergency Services J&K, Alok Kumar (IPS, ADGP), highlighting his commitment towards the health, fitness and welfare of the department’s frontline personnel. As per the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), officials said the medical camp featured screenings for non-communicable diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and fatty liver using advanced diagnostic tools like glucometers, fibroscan and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM). They say specialists from the Directorate of Ayush conducted the medical evaluations, while ENT and audiometry services were provided by Paras Hospital. Meanwhile, a blood donation camp was also held in collaboration with LD Hospital and NGO Red Drop, during which over 30 personnel from the department voluntarily donated blood. Additionally, a drug de-addiction awareness session was conducted by the Director of a rehabilitation centre and a social activist, focusing on smoking cessation, harmful effects of addiction and available medical support for quitting. Moreover, the event was attended by the Deputy Director Command Srinagar, the Medical Officer of F&ES, the Director of Ujalla Cygnus Hospital and other medical experts and social activists. Officials said the programme received wide appreciation, underlining the importance of preventive healthcare, lifestyle awareness and community service as core values of the Fire & Emergency Services—(KNO)
